Turkish-Only Letters in Name City Animal: Ç, Ö, Ü, Ş and İ

2026-06-26

The joy of playing in Turkish is the letters no other language has: Ç, Ö, Ü, Ş, Ğ and two different "i" letters (I and İ). They look hard but hide rich vocabularies.

Key Rule: I is not İ

In Name City Animal the dotless "I" and the dotted "İ" are different letters. "İstanbul" is invalid on an I round but valid on an İ round. Knowing this helps you win voting disputes.

Examples

  • Ç: Çanakkale (city), Çita/cheetah (animal)
  • Ö: Ördek/duck (animal), Özbekistan (country)
  • Ş: Şile (city), Şeftali/peach (plant)
  • İ: İzmir (city), İnek/cow (animal), İtalya (country)

Why No Ğ?

No Turkish word begins with "ğ", so the letter pool never produces a Ğ round — nothing to worry about.
